Ask for Beverly Quinn or Sean Walsh. School Committee- The School Committee is the governing body of the Milton Public Schools. The Committee consists of six residents who are elected to three-year terms. They usually meet twice per month on Tuesday evenings at the MHS Public Library. Their agenda and meeting dates are posted on the MPS website www.miltonps.org. At the beginning of their meetings, they hold a “Citizen’s Speak”, allowing any Milton resident to address them, for up to 3 minutes, on any issue of concern. Edline- MPS has a new website, that allows parents to obtain a great deal of information about their children and the schools. Check it out at least weekly, as it is frequently updated with important information, including homework assignments, school newsletters and calendars of events. The principal at the high school produces a Daily Bulletin of important notices for both parents & students on the high school page. Parent Involvement- Parents can get involved in their schools through their PTOs, their Site Councils and through many other school-sponsored activities. Ask your school’s principal or Vice Principal how to get connected. There are also parent groups that support music (FAME), visual arts (FAVE) and athletics (Boosters). Guidance and Adjustment Counselors- If your child is experiencing difficulties, you can speak with his teacher or school principal to arrange an appointment with his/her Guidance Counselor at the elementary level. Each child is assigned a Guidance Counselor at the Middle and High Schools, and they can be contacted directly. The Counselors can provide advice or referral for special services, including to the Adjustment Counselor, School Psychologist or Special Education Department. Resource Officers- Both Pierce Middle School and Milton High School have Community Policing Resource Officers. You can contact them directly. Registration is always mid-September at the High School.
