Pam Dorsey - almost a "Townie"

I was born in Oxford, Mississippi, where my father attended Ole Miss after WWII. Our family of 7 moved around the south and west, spending many years in Southern California. When my father died suddenly, my mother moved our family back to Squantum, where she had grown up and where she met my father at a USO dance.

I spent my adolescence and early adulthood in Squantum, attended North Quincy High and went on to UMass Boston after my oldest son entered school. I graduated with a double degree, in Classical Studies (languages, art, history of the ancient world) and Elementary Education. I taught school in Newton for a few years, then temporarily retired to raise my younger boys.

My husband Brian is a born-and-raised-in-Milton Townie. We've been married for nearly 20 years, and have lived in Milton since 1983. We've been at 27 Gibbons Street with our two younger sons since 1992 My first two sons were born 15 years apart, and the 2nd and 3rd were born 15 MONTHS apart - talk about reincarnation (and all in the same life).

I'm a member of the First Parish Unitarian/Universal Church at the corner of Thacher and Canton Avenues, where I lead the Earth Centered Spirituality Group. With a junior and a senior both at Milton High, Brian and I anticipate college bills and a cozy empty nest in the next few years.

Since 1987, I've worked for Milton Community Schools. I started as the Supervisor of the Tucker CLASP after school program. In 1988, I was named Director of MCS, and have been working in a whirlwind of expansion and growth since then. Developing and overseeing before and after school programs at all of Milton's elementary schools, vacation week programs, Camp Cunningham, and the KEDS program have kept me busy for the past 15 years! During the last year I've started a crafts business, making and selling stone amulets, wit & wisdom on wall art, and magical wands at Art/Craft fairs around New England and in some shops. Operating as "Sticks & Stones", I'll be a vendor at the Boston World Trade Center Christmas Craft Fair November 1 - 3.

We're delighted with our 2-year old brilliant, beautiful, amazing, etc., honey pumpkin grandson, Orion - my oldest son and his wife have a home in Pembroke, but we get to visit often. (He calls me "Biggie" - I'm not sure why......) Anyway, Dick got me into this, and is he ever hard to keep up with. I hope our PTBNA and the 911 Bears continue to attract the energy necessary to follow through on these worthy projects. Thanks to all past and future.....
