Progress being made to date in the sediment removal of
Pine Tree Brook
Pine Tree Brook: The Big Picture
The Pine Tree Brook starts from ponds and underground brooks in the beautiful hills in Milton/Quincy. The blue hills reservation (5,800 acres) adjoins fowl meadow reservation (894 acres) that comprises the largest open space within 35 miles of Boston. The reservation boasts 20 hill tops that range in elevation from 296 feet to the 635 foot great blue hill, the highest elevation of land mass along the Atlantic coast south of Maine all the way down to tip of Florida. Pine Tree Brook receives 2/3rd of the run off from rainstorms and snowmelt from the north side of the blue hills reservation.

Work in process
We also received a telephone call from Walter Timilty that he has asked for $50,000 in the fy08 state budget for Pine Tree Brook. Once again, thank you Walter Heller!
The best news yet!
Walter Heller informed us via email today that news from Washington, DC. Senators Edward M. Kennedy and John F. Kerry announced today that the senate has passed legislation authorizing important water resources improvements in the Boston area. The water resources development act, which passed the senate, directs the Army Corps. of Engineers to prepare an environmental restoration report for Pine Tree Brook in Milton. The report is an essential step before the Army Corps can assist the community in restoring Pine Tree Brook, which has been degraded by excess sediment. Wow! We have contacted senator Kennedy’s office in Washington, DC to tract the progress of this bill.
What do we need? Answer: Money!
It is 7,765 feet or 1.47 miles from Glover School to Pope’s Pond. That fact should be the answer.
